Geneva, NE: Heritage Crossings Resident Honored by Receiving 2015 Nebraska Nursing Facility Association Resident of the Year Award!

The Nebraska Nursing Facility Association honored Ralph ‘Waldo’ Schinzel with the 2015 Resident of the Year Award. Waldo is a proud and active resident at Heritage Crossings in Geneva. He was presented with a special plaque at the NNFA Conference in Kearney by Nebraska Lieutenant Governor Mike Foley. This prestigious award was given to recognize Waldo for the many ways he contributes to quality life at Heritage Crossings.

Waldo is described as a true advocate for residents, he takes it upon himself to help new residents to feel welcome by inviting them to activities and encouraging them to join in at social events. Waldo also takes part in ‘New Employee’ interviews by joining other team members in the process and providing a voice for all residents in determining new caregivers. Waldo takes delight in helping wherever needed in the facility. He is well known as an eager volunteer with Bingo, in baking projects, handing out music at church service, as well as a host of other events and groups.

During the Awards Banquet, Waldo was joined by his daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Andy Baack and several employees from Heritage Crossings. Patrick Fairbanks, Chief Operations Officer of Vetter Health Services presented Waldo with a gift from Jack and Eldora Vetter to thank him for all he does to promote quality life at Heritage Crossings. Waldo will be recognized at a later time by his Heritage Crossings Family. Our community is very proud of Waldo and how much he demonstrates the, “Yes I Can,” spirit.
