Elkhorn, NE: Dawn Truckenbrod Selected As Finalist At “Excellence In Nursing Awards Gala”
Last Thursday evening, April 23rd, at the Omaha Press Club, the First Annual Excellence In Nursing Awards Gala was held by Omaha Magazine. Mr. Todd Lempke, of Omaha Magazine stated that “we felt it was time for nurses to be recognized for their contributions to the people they care for.” Over 150 nominations were submitted for 16 categories of nursing specialties. A national panel reviewed the applications and picked the finalists. We are so pleased that our own Director of Nursing at Brookestone Meadows, Dawn Truckenbrod, was the finalist for her commitment to seniors and senior care.
(This quote is as told to Omaha Magazine by Dawn).
The first time Dawn Truckenbrod stepped foot into a nursing rehabilitation center for seniors nearly 30 years ago, she knew this was her vocation. “Something clicked and I realized that I really enjoyed being around the elderly population,” says Truckenbrod. “I have a deep respect for their experience and knowledge. They come from all avenues of life and have been through so much more than any of us. Eventually, it will come full circle. Some day I will be in their shoes. So right now, I figure it’s my turn to help them.”
Congratulations Dawn for being a living example of our Mission, Vision and Values!
