Vetter Senior Living Named Best Workplace for Aging Services by Fortune
Fortune magazine and Great Place to Work have once again named Vetter Senior Living among the top 25 Best Workplaces for Aging Services. Vetter Senior Living employs more than 3,200 people in 30 locations in the Midwest. This is the sixth consecutive year VSL has made the list.
Fortune partners with Great Place to Work to determine the Best Workplaces in Aging Services. Surveys of more than 140,000 employees are analyzed from Great Place to Work-Certified™ companies in the aging services industry. In the survey, 84% of employees say they are part of a great place to work, compared to 57% of employees at a typical US-based company.
Employees share confidential quantitative and qualitative feedback about their employer’s culture, rating it as a great employee experience in terms of “trust, respect, credibility, fairness, pride, and camaraderie.”
To be considered for the list, companies must be Great Place to Work-Certified™ and be in the aging services industry. Companies with 1,000 employees or more are considered for the large category.
VSL is Once Again a Certified Great Place to Work – 5th year in a row!
Vetter Senior Living is pleased to announce the company and all related companies in the VSL family have been Certified™ by Great Place to Work® for the fifth year in a row.
Overall, 88 percent of team members said their work has special meaning, that it’s not “just a job” and 87% feel a sense of pride when they look at what they have accomplished. The survey was conducted earlier this year (2022) by Activated Insights.
Great Place to Work® Certification™ is the most definitive “employer-of-choice” recognition that companies aspire to achieve. It is the only recognition based entirely on what employees report about their workplace experience – specifically, how consistently they experience a high-trust workplace.
Being certified makes VSL eligible to be considered for the Fortune Great Places to Work list, including Great Places to Work in Aging Services. VSL has made the list for the last two years! The 2022 results will be published late this summer.

The program is based on the core values and criteria of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program. Member centers may apply for three progressive levels of awards: Bronze—Commitment to Quality, Silver—Achievement in Quality, or Gold—Excellence in Quality. Each level has its own distinct rigors and requirements for quality and performance excellence. Deficiency Free
We celebrate and take pride in receiving a deficiency-free health survey. Facilities are surveyed every year by a multi-disciplinary team from the Department of Health and Human Services. Surveys are always unannounced. The rigorous survey, which is conducted over several days, covers almost 200 quality, safety and performance issues such as medication management, proper skin care, assessment of resident’s needs, respect for residents rights and dignity, food service, environment and administration, to name only a few. With increasingly stringent regulations, achieving the deficiency-free rating maintaining compliance with both state and federal requirements can be challenging. These surveys, and the subsequent ratings, are a useful tool for prospective and current residents, their families, and health care practitioners to make informed choices about the quality of a long-term care facility.
Injury Free
Vetter Senior Living is deeply committed to the safety of our team members and residents. As part of our injury prevention efforts, we take time to recognize and celebrate with each Vetter Senior Living facility when each team member has worked “One Year — 24/7 Injury Free.” These celebrations include a special lunch served by the Vetter Health Services home office team. All team members are awarded pins for their personal commitment to keep themselves and their teammates free from injury. Vetter Senior Living recognizes that laboring for one year without injury is a significant achievement – it takes great teamwork and allows us to continue to provide the world-class resident care for which are facilities are known.
