Home Office: Play, Be There, Make Their Day and Choose Your Attitude!

Fish Face      Eldora      FD Orientation

What does The FISH! Philosophy have to do with skilled nursing and rehabilitation? A lot! No, we aren’t working near a little fish market in Seattle, but we do believe in the four principles that are the foundation of their company: Play, Be There, Make Their Day and Choose Your Attitude. During our Home Office Orientation, we show our team members the FISH! Video and have a genuine discussion on how we can create these four principles in our own working environments. To top it off, team members are given a stuffed fish to put in their offices to remind them of The FISH! Philosophy.

Orientation is also a way for Home Office to share our passion for those we serve. We also get the opportunity to make our team members feel appreciated for the jobs they do each day to provide quality life and quality care for our residents.

Janelle Krzycki, Director of Nursing at Rose Lane Home in Loup City, NE shared her feelings about orientation by stating, “Even though I’m not new to VHS, I enjoyed spending time with our home office support staff and being reminded of the great resources available to us. I enjoyed meeting all the new facility employees and making connections with others who share our vision. The entire experience sets a wonderful example of hospitality and family serving family. I was made to feel right at home!”

Lodge Life Enrichment Coordinator, Christy Manes from Creekside at Elfindale in Springfield, MO commented on orientation by saying, “First, I was really impressed with the teamwork. It was very nice to see that in action. I had a great time and met some wonderful people! It really opened my eyes or a least made me more aware of procedures and what not. The food was great, and the planning must have been perfect because it seemed to go off without a hitch. To sum it up, all in all, I had a wonderful time, learned a lot, and benefited greatly in my short time there.”
