Grand Island, NE: Saving Lives One Unit at a Time

Saving Lives 1      Saving Lives 2      Saving Lives 3

PEP (People Energizing People) Club hosted its first Blood drive of 2015; and the response of the staff and family members was overwhelming. We started out with a goal of 15 units with 25 team members and community members signed up we asked for more time slots increasing our goal to 20 units and ten more people after the initial slots filled up, having many sign up the day of the drive to donate. Pep Club provided a meal for each donor to enjoy after donating. Not only did we meet our goal of 20 units but we collected 25 units, had 29 present to donate and we had 7 first time donors. That’s a huge accomplishment. We hope to continue annual blood drives about every 8 weeks. For every 1 unit of blood donated 3 lives are saved. As a team we had to chance to possibly touch 75 lives by this drive. The next drive is scheduled for June 12th.
