Elkhorn, NE: Nurse Leadership Education
21 Continuing Education Contact hours were awarded through the Iowa Western Community College at the recent Vetter Health Services Nurse Leadership Education sessions.
The group attending the recent educational sessions at the VHS Home Office consisted of 21 new and seasoned DON’s/ADONs, Staff Development/Infection Prevention Nurses, Nurse Assessment Coordinators, and Charge Nurses from across nine different VHS facilities. The purpose of this education is to educate nurses on key elements of leadership and best clinical practices.
This program provides best practices in the care of our elders. Topics of discussion included: Our VHS Mission, Vision & Values, Leadership Skills and Traits, Strengths Finder, Best practices related to documentation in the medical record, VHS Operating Standards, Infection Prevention best practices, best practices related to safe medication administration, Key Elements in the prevention of pressure ulcers, Regulations, Survey Preparation, Charge Nurse Training, Quality Measures….and much, much more!
