Alliance, NE: Back in the Saddle
Bill Shrewsbury has ridden in to many sunsets during his life upon horses. His latest cowboy adventure allowed us to share in perhaps his greatest pleasures: horses and family. Through the cooperative effort of our community and East Point Horspice (EPH), a local horse rescue and therapeutic riding facility, Bill was invited to swing a leg over and, with rope in hand, enjoy some time in the saddle with his family among his beloved western Nebraska sandhills. EPH was able to provide a specially outfitted saddle, used typically for therapeutic riding, allowing Bill a heightened level of security and safety.
Born in to a ranching family, Bill spent his life as a true cowboy working the vast acres horseback; he has been generous enough to pass this lifestyle down to the generations of Shrewburys who, on this day, joined us in honoring him the best way they know how – with their horses. It was truly a moving event to witness the extended family involvement displayed. During the light rain, which in no way was able to put a damper on this memorable activity, Highland Park team members were humbled to experience a true ranch family who has dedicated itself to providing personalized care that achieved extraordinary results and exceeded the expectations of all involved.
